ECO- friendlier installs

Save for winter, like the squirrel

Coming Soon - Our eco-friendy package

Whilst any kind of heating comes with a cost to the planet, we still have to keep warm and if you are unable to afford or don't have the space to fit a heat pump then you can opt for making your logburner install as eco-friendly as possible.

We are currently researching into more sustainable products that will help our customers reduce the carbon footprint of their woodburner installation, as well as be as clean burning as possible.

We are looking into hearth materials made from recycled products and British slate that hasn't been shipped from the other side of the world; lime render that absorbs CO2 in the drying process; woodburners with a high efficiency rating as these create less air pollution than multi-fuel stoves; stoves that are made in the UK and thus not transported long distances and rustic mantel shelves with an oak effect, made from faster growing softwood trees, such as pine, that also have travelled less than oak shelves.

Absolutely brilliant service. Quote for an inset log burner was informed, no frills, no hidden charges - Michelle

Wood is a sustainable fuel

Because of this we recommend installation a dedicated woodburner rather than a multifuel stove. This will also save you money on your flexible liner.

Companies that manufacture dedicated woodburners (not designed to burn coal) in the UK are currently; Arada, Esse, Charnwood and Parkray.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm

CO-Alarm

Your carbon monoxide alarm could save your life should a heating appliance in your house become faulty. They can occassionally go off unexpectedly when you open the door to your stove. This may mean that your alarm is not in the optimum position and needs moving slightly. However at least you know it is still working!

In order to save waste; in our ECO package we recommend you purchasing a mains powered carbon monoxide alarm, so that you never need to replace the batteries or the whole unit. Unfortunately, we are not electricians and so you would need to organise this before the installation of your woodburner.

The great thing about mains power is you don't have to worry about the batteries running out and there are some great apps that connect to these appliances so that you can check in on your phone. However if a mains powered device is not possible, we can provide a carbon monoxide detector that takes batteries. That way you can buy rechargable batteries and never need to dispose of regular toxic batteries again. Better still recharge them using your solar panel!

Woodburning stoves

As wood burns cleaner than wood it is better in the fight against air pollution. The soot it creates does not create sulpuric or nitric acid when damp and so means a thinner flexible steel liner is needed for your install. Less steel in your liner, means less strain on the steel industry and savings in your pocket.

We are currently researching where British manufacturers of woodburners source their iron and steel and where their products are assembled so that we can find stoves with a low carbon footprint to offer our customers. We are discovering that most companies have the parts made overseas and only assemble their stoves in Britain, so may have a similar or worse carbon footprint to stoves made internationally.

For the time being we have found three low cost dedicated woodburners from British manufacturers to recommend to our customers. There are many more on the current market these are all under £1000.

1. Esse1 5kW ECO woodburner - around £550

2. ACR woodpecker 4 SIA-ready woodburner 4.3 kW - around £775

3. STOVAX 4 ECO woodburner 5kW - around £980
